Sweet and sour vegetables with maple syrup are a simply delicious healthy side dish. They can always be prepared by choosing the freshest seasonal vegetables.

Crunchy and with a sweet and sour flavor, they are great as a side dish as well as a healthy and wholesome meal break.

Sweet and sour vegetables with maple syrup

Ingredients

  • 200g cleaned pumpkin
  • 150g fleshy peppers
  • 200g of white cauliflower florets
  • ½ onion
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup MapleFarm Pure Maple Syrup – Dark
  • 1 sprinkling of “five spice”
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Mince the onion and peel the garlic clove and sauté them in a pan with two tablespoons of oil.
  • Pour the vegetables into the pan and let them season on high heat for 10 minutes.
  • Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and then adjust salt, pepper and spices to taste.
  • Add a little water to finish cooking if necessary; at the end, the liquid should be almost completely absorbed and the vegetables should remain crisp.
  • Top with maple syrup, stir in the sweet-and-sour vegetables again, and serve.
