All the essence of maple syrup is concentrated in a fluffy cake made even more mouthwatering by a creamy maple syrup accompaniment.

An all-Canadian snack, great accompanied by a hot tea or herbal tea…perhaps in front of the crackling fireplace.

Maple cake with maple syrup cream sauce

Ingredients

Ingredients for the cake

  • 350 g of 00 flour
  • 15 g of yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 120 g soft butter (at room temperature) or 100 ml seed oil
  • 480 ml of
    MapleFarm Pure Maple Syrup – Dark
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 ml of milk
  • 5 ml vanilla essence

For the sauce:

  • 210 g brown sugar
  • 240 ml MapleFarm Pure Maple Syrup – Dark
  • 125 ml fresh cream

Instructions

  • To prepare the cake, mix the flour, baking powder, salt and ginger powder in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, beat soft butter (or seed oil) with maple syrup with electric whips.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, and continue beating.
  • Finally, incorporate the milk and vanilla essence and mix well.
  • Combine the dry ingredients from the first bowl with the other ingredients and mix, removing any lumps.
  • Butter or grease a 23×33 cm rectangular baking pan and pour in the mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Once cooked, allow to cool and cut into cubes.
  • To make the sauce, combine brown sugar, cream and maple syrup in a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring continuously until thickened.
  • Allow to cool and serve as an accompanying sauce to the cake.
