Frosted popcorn with maple syrup

  • Pour the maple syrup into a high-sided saucepan and let it simmer over a gentle heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, separately, heat the cream until almost boiling.
  • Off the heat, pour the cream into the boiling maple syrup, add the butter and salt, and stir with a wooden spoon.
  • Return the saucepan to the heat, cooking a couple more minutes, until the sauce is well thickened, never stopping stirring.
  • Transfer the sauce to a glass jar and let it cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 120°C.
  • Arrange the popcorn in a bowl, drizzle with the sauce and mix well, then spread it out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake it for about 15 minutes, until it has acquired a nice amber color.
  • Bake and let cool completely before serving.
